It’s time to liquidate my Upholstery Designer Fabric Samples so I can concentrate on my other things. Anyone want to buy out my Fabric Sample business? I have way over 1000 samples. Although they range from 5” to 25”, most are 14”. Each sample usually sells for $4 to $45. Most are less than $10 each. I am willing to sell them anyway you see fit. Right now, I have boxed approximately 9 lb in a large flat rate priority box for $72.  I also have a medium flat rate priority box for $47. How about $1 to $2 a piece?

Forever in Trouble….Gallison the Goose by Sheila Conner

Hi, I'm Gallison...the one on the front left of this photo.

Well, I did it again…All the geese on the pond are screaming, but I can’t find them. I know that the pond is here. I live right next to it. Somehow, Mom and Dad got away from me, along with my brothers and sisters. Or did I get away from them? I found this great place…there are big round rubber things and the smell of human food…but I don’t smell a human. It’s a funny smell…kind of like the smell when we stroll on the black stuff that burns my feet. I can’t find my way out to the regular grass place. Oops, I just walked into a wall or something. Oh my God….I smell a human coming. OMG, OMG…I’ve got to run, run, run. Bang…the wall again? Bang…another wall? OMG….now I’m screaming and the other geese are screaming and the human is making weird noises. The human keeps saying “come out…go home”…something like that. I’m so scared. Bang…an edge of a wall? Ooh, I look and see the green grass that tastes so good. Run….Bang…ouch…the stone wall got in my way. I have got to be more careful. OMG, here comes another human. I run and run and finally see the pond. I run into the pond and run to my parents….BUT OMG…these “parents” are screaming and hissing at me. They’re not my Mom and Dad. I’m crying. The humans are screaming. I smell a cat. The humans are screaming at the cat. The cat turns around. I can hear my parents screaming for me, but I don’t know where they are. I’m swimming and crying. The humans are crying. The humans go away…that’s good! I’m not allowed to be near the humans yet. I try to come out of the pond, but it’s harder when you’re crying. I finally get out of the pond. I can’t hear my parents anymore. The other two geese are yelling at me, but they come out of the pond, too! Now they keep pushing me towards the woods…it’s scary in the woods. They say that my parents and brothers and sisters are in the woods and that they are looking for me. But the grass looks so nice, that I stop to eat and play. These silly geese keep pecking at me and telling me that I am in big trouble. I think that I will find my parents later. It’s safe now…right? Later, I’ll take my brothers and sisters for a fun adventure!

Moving is a Big Pain in the Tush

I wrote this months ago and never got around to publishing it because I have been so very busy! The internal renovation is now 99% complete. We are now working on the landscaping!

So I have finally moved but the house is still under renovation! It's been slow to get all the boxes unpacked. We have the domino affect in progress. So many things depend on so many other things! It's like a puzzle. I can't unpack the living room until the painting is done. I can't unpack the dining room until the living room is done. I can't unpack the bathrooms until the 2 renovated bathrooms are done. I have unpacked things in the kitchen that really belong in the dining room and foyer. I have unpacked things in the den that really belong in the mud room. I have unpacked things in the mud room that really belong in the garage. I can't unpack the garage items because the workmen have their stuff all over it. I can't unpack the storage pod because there's nowhere to put anything! The shed probably contains things that I need in my kitchen!?!?! I have unpacked things into my office storage area that really belong in the attic. I have unpacked things that belong in the child's guestroom that really belong in my office storage area. My office looks like it was hit by a cyclone because I have the boxes in my office that belong in the office storage area.

BUT, the carpenter has finally configured the inside of my new huge closets in the new master bedroom...and they are gorgeous!!!

So, today, I have unpacked 13 wardrobe boxes that were all over the house. I need to unpack 3 more wardrobe boxes and that will be done. Then I need to move the clothing from the guest bedrooms into the master bedroom. Then I can unpack the guest bedroom boxes! And then I need to spend some time organizing my new closets!

I am hoping to have the main linen closet finished this week. Then I can unpack the linens that are still in boxes. I can move the linens that are in my clothing cabinets into the linen closet...how novel! Then I can unpack the extra toiletries and medicines into my huge linen closet. Then I can move the toiletries and medicines from the exercise room to a shelf in the linen closet. And when the bathrooms are done, I will be moving the medicines and toiletries again!

More Furniture for Sale! Six Vintage Parson Upholstered Dining Room Chairs

I am still trying to downsize and replace some items. So, we have more stuff to sell before we move. So far I have listed an all wood 7 piece bedroom set for $1000, described in a previous post on this blog. NOW, I have 6 beautiful Parson style upholstered dining room chairs to sell.

Come and get this fabulous set of 6 vintage upholstered Parson dining room chairs from the 1970s. They are mine. THE TABLE IS NOT INCLUDED. We are moving and will be having a different look at the new house. These cost plenty when new. Condition is very good, but the seats are a little soft and there are some top corner edges that are worn. You may want to replace the cushions under the fabric with new foam? or whatever they use these days. Sooo....since you are all wonderfully talented, I bet that you can make them your own! Each chair measures 38" high, 19" deep and 19" wide. The seat height is 19" from the floor. There are 13 1/2" walnut colored wood legs that are part of the 38" height measurement. Fabric is a chenille of beige with rust and tan...very neutral. $500 for ALL SIX!

We are in Stamford, CT. These are for PICK UP ONLY! There is no help here. Do email for details!

WE'RE MOVING!!! MAJOR CLEAN UP! HELP ME DESTASH!

Our current, wonderful, house is three levels and we are both having trouble with all the stairs. We need a mostly one level ranch style...much better for both of us. SOOOOOO, I need to destash. We already had a moving sale which was not very successful. I donated tons of stuff to the Vietnam Vets, a Rehab Center Thrift Store and to Goodwill.

BUY MY CURRENT HOUSE!!! Anyone for Stamford, CT with woods and pond with deer, rabbits, geese, wild turkey, ducks, pheasant, chipmunks, birds of all kinds, squirrels, etc. Our backyard is like a park!

We also have some bedroom furniture to sell before we move. Check out the picture above. This is a 7 piece set. Email for detailed info.

So, I think that you all need to go and look at my online stores and make fair offers on some of my merchandise. PLEASE DO!!!

Let's Vote on All Things That You Have Seen Done Two Ways...Both Seemingly Correct...At the Time!

I was busy reading all those humorous emails that people send me. I don't know why, but for some reason, today was an extremely big day for those. As I was chuckling about some of these, one of them reminded me that you can always see both sides of the coin as being correct on any particular day.

Let's take a tally of your amusing both side stories. Here's mine...it sort of has 3 sides:

Your child wakes up with a cold. He doesn't seem that bad to you. You figure that he can't afford to miss school. You know that he will drive you crazy if he stays home. He will watch too much television for your likings...or he will be on the computer chatting too long for your comfort level....or he will be playing too many computer games. SO YOU SEND HIM TO SCHOOL without ever worrying about who he will make sick.

Your student walks into your classroom sneezing his head off. He is obviously sick...perhaps not very...but ...You know that you will catch it...you know that the other kids will catch it...you know that everyone is going to end up sick and the parents of the other students will be mad at you if you don't send the sick student home. You think that his parents are awful and don't care about him. You are unmarried and cannot imagine how insensitive a parent can be to send a sick student to school.

You used to be a teacher, before you had kids, and your child wakes up with a cold. He doesn't seem that bad to you...etc, etc, etc.

Fabulous Fall Fun

I have been working at getting my inventory out of my storage and into your hands. I have added a few new venues for selling my "stuff".

As you know, I currently sell on Ebay at: http://stores.ebay.com/ShefindsthingsAtNostalgia?refid=store. This store contains over 1000 items, including collectibles, vintage, designer fabric samples, estate finds, etc. I have also been selling on Etsy at: http://FabricSamples.etsy.com , where I sell Trade Only Designer Fabric Samples.

Since, I am an Antiques and Collectibles Dealer, in one of my many lives, I have opened 2 more stores on Etsy. One is at http://Shefindsthings.etsy.com which will contain Collectibles and Vintage. I have an inventory of over 10,000 items, so requests are always welcome. At the moment, this Etsy store contains a small fraction of what I have.

Then, I opened http://AlteredArtSupplies.etsy.com. This will contain all the odds and ends that I have collected from Estates over the past 13 years...that are either damaged, missing parts, weird, or simply don't know what they are. Most of these items are so interesting, that I am hoping that some of you artisans can make use of them. I think that they would be great for altered art, collages, assemblages, scrapbooking, etc. I can't wait to see what you can do with them.

AND, I do want photos....please! I will be happy to post any appropriate photos of items made with my "stuff" and links to your "stuff". Just send all info to me!

I have also added a group of the same pattern in different colors. Any of these pieces can be bought separately. You can buy them privately through an email, or I am more than happy to put them into either of my Internet Stores...where you are under no obligation to buy anything, until you push that BUY Button! I prefer using Paypal as my payment method, so it is really EASY to purchase items from me any of the ways. But, first take a look see and see if I already have what you want in my stores:

Yes, I Do Sell Vintage Collectibles on EBay!

Yes, I do sell vintage collectibles on Ebay! I started out as a Vintage Collectibles and Antique Dealer in Vermont, under the name Nostalgia. Then I went on Ebay and called myself Shefindsthings at Nostalgia. I started this business because, like so many other dealers, I needed to empty my parents home. Over time, I decided that I really enjoyed old children's items. I then specialized in children's items and loved it. I especially like children's books...I have them all...the boy and girl series (i.e. Nancy Drew, Judy Bolton, Dana Girls, etc.)...some with dustjackets, some 1st editions, most in excellent condition...something I really pride myself in.

But, as you are probably aware, nostalgic collectibles are non necessary items and people seem to be thinking thrice before purchasing and spending their monies that way. So, kind of by accident, I was offered these glorious trade only, Designer Fabric Samples. And my business got a NEW life...sort of like a cat. And, I do love the fabrics! Not only am I again making some money, but I get to play with, feel, coordinate and offer suggestions to people. I love dealing with people and this works so well! I have decided that I was "supposed to be a salesperson" in this life...but I hadn't exactly gone that path. But, now, that's what I like the best. I "enable" people to BUY!

Hope you have a happy day! Comments are always welcome and so are DEALS! After all, I am a "salesperson"!!

IF YOU LIKE VINTAGE NOSTALGIC ITEMS

AND, in case you like to look at Vintage Nostalgic Items, I also keep booths at an Antique Center in Quechee, Vermont, called Quechee Gorge Village. I am DEALER 34. I do NOT carry fabrics, but I DO carry all the items from your childhood that people now collect. These are all vintage items from 1930 thru 1960. I have dolls and their accessories, dollhouse furniture, gumball charms, novelties, crackerjack prizes, paper things, children's books (which I adore and am known for), vanity and perfume items, dishes, glassware, pottery, some linens, hankies, cereal premiums, giveaways, pinback buttons, etc. etc. The list is actually extremely long! Sadly, the Antique Center that I am in doesn't have an online selling site, so you would just have to go there or request me to take something out and sell it privately...another option. But you can get info about the place at

http://www.quecheegorge.com/antiques.html

INTRODUCTION TO DESIGNER FABRIC SAMPLES

Hi. My name is Sheila and I love Designer Fabric Samples....but I don't really sew alot! I love to design things...figure out how you can use a piece of fabric. I can picture these pieces in all sorts of beautiful uses....but I am not capable of creating them. SO, I sell these trade only, designer fabric samples on Ebay. I have an Ebay store. If you mention this blog, shipping will be FREE.

Buy It Now in My eBay Store, Shefindsthings at Nostalgia!

I have met all sorts of wonderful craftspeople who love my samples. And I am happy to provide them with fabric that would be well over $100/yard, for a small percent, for that small piece that they actually want and need. I have textile artists, handbag artisans, collage and altered art people, pillow makers, quilters, etc. The list goes on and on. I have sold to people all around the world. I have customers in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Japan, Canada and all over the United States.
AND requests are always welcome, for I love the hunt. I have a huge inventory of these samples that are not on Ebay and can be bought privately as well. But take a look on Ebay, so you can see assorted examples of what I sell!
And NOW, I have just added another venue for selling my Designer Fabric Samples! I have opened a store on Etsy. The items in my Etsy store are DIFFERENT. Etsy services craft artisans, all in one place! I figured that these creative people would have some use for my fabric samples, so I opened a store. You can get there by using my link:
